Michael Schaible and Baja Properties are synonymous with the history of real estate in Los Cabos.
Michael arrived in 1986 from Vail, Colorado opening Baja Properties, the first full service real estate company in Los Cabos. In 1990, he founded the state-wide real estate association, the MLS-BCS and serving as President of the Board of Directors. In 1994, he founded the first Charter of AMPI (the Mexico National Association of Professionals in Real Estate) for state of Baja California Sur serving again as President during the first five years. Later, in 2017, Michael was instrumental in the promotion and creation of the Baja California Sur Real Estate License Law (2017) representing the private sector of the real estate industry and later being appointed to the Commission of the Real Estate License Law in 2018. No other Broker has done more for the real estate industry in Baja California Sur than Michael Schaible.

Michael began developing from the very beginning, had to, there was nothing for sale back then. Coordinating with local architects and builders he has developed and delivered hundreds of single family homes and condominiums throughout all the exclusive communities including San Jose del Cabo’s finest beach front residential communities, Las Mañanitas and Tortuga Bay.
From land acquisition, to project entitlements and permits, design and construction, to delivery and management, Michael has extensive experience in each facet of the development process and continues to deliver quality properties to his satisfied clients.

Michael has always been a leader in the real estate industry since his arrival in 1986. Recognizing early the need to organize for the future, he has been instrumental in the formation of the key real estate organizations and regulations which govern industry practices today.
He founded the MLS-BCS (Multiple Listing System) with a hand-full of other practitioners in 1990, presiding over the budding organization for its first four years. He is the author and co-author of the Operating Policies and Procedures (OPP’s), the standard rules and regulations governing safe and secure practices of real estate transactions by all members of the MLS-BCS.
Later in 1994, he would introduce the first Chapter of AMPI, (Mexico National Association of Professionals in Real Estate) to the state of Baja California Sur and held the office of President during the first four years.
Always looking for ways to advance industry standards Michael lobbied hard to create the Real Estate License Law of 2017 and was appointed by the Governor’s Secretary of Economy to the Commission of Real Estate representing the private sector. The Commissioned is tasked with making recommendations and changes to the law as deemed necessary from time to time.
In 2014 Michael returned as President of the Board of Directors of the MLS-BCS. The organization he founded 30 years earlier with five members had grown substantially to 140 Brokerages servicing 1,000 real estate agents state-wide and producing 2.0 billion in annual sales. He remains President and CEO of the MLS-BCS.

When not buzzing around with investors you might find Michael out fishing for big tunas or along the coastlines hunting for the illusive rooster fish, his two favorites.
Or perhaps he might be in the middle of nowhere on one of his off-road toys, motorcycles, ATV’s, dune buggy’s, etc.
He’s a family man who raised two kids here in Los Cabos (which he likes to brag about), his son competing for years on the Mexico National Olympic Ski Team and a daughter who graduated from the University of California Berkeley and George Washington Law school.
